New buildings were required to be built on the existing footprint with no additional square footage allowed.

Project: FED Warehouse/Office Build-out at Camp Blanding Joint Operations Command Training Facility, Starke, FL

Scope: New Construction of a pre-engineered Metal Building with both warehouse and office space. Warehouse had roll-up doors and utility doors. Modifications required a retention pond be added for stormwater increase.

Project: Joint Operations Center Training Facility (JOCTF) at Camp Blanding Joint Operations Command Training Facility, Starke, FL

Scope: This 12,000 sq ft facility featured ICF walls, ISO insulation, interior masonry walls, computer-controlled HVAC systems, interior storefront systems, metal roof system, metal truss systems with certified welding connections for 160 MPH design, computer access floor system, draft and firewall construction to eliminate need for sprinkler systems which would damage sensitive computer equipment. Due to the complexity of this project, there were unforeseen challenges. KBT addressed each challenge and completed the project at the highest level of quality and a competitive value. Additionally, this project was designed and built to meet LEED silver standards even though it was not officially registered as a LEED project with the USGBC. KBT was still required to meet all LEED Silver requirements. The building also serves as the “Emergency Location” for the Florida State Legislature.

Project: Design/Build – Main Gate and Perimeter Fence at Camp Blanding Joint Operations Command Training Facility, Starke, FL

Design/Build services for the construction of approximately ½ mile of Brick/Masonry, column, knee wall and metal fencing at the Main Gate of Camp Blanding. There were very strict security guidelines that had to be followed which presented many challenges with materials and site conditions. Funding was provided through set-aside money under the Patriot Act. Specifications for Antiterrorism Force Protection (ATFP) and had to be strictly adhered to. This presented many challenges because elevations in civil design had to maintain architectural integrity and still meet Force protection requirements. KBT’s successful completion of Phase I lead to KBT being awarded Phase II for an additional ¼ mile of wall and fencing 2 years later as a negotiated contract under our Construction Manager at Risk contract. ATFP requirements were still in effect for this portion of the fence.
