Project: Design/Build New Veterinary Hospital, Jacksonville, FL.
In April 2015 KBT was contacted by the owner of Black Creek Veterinary Hospital. They had already worked with another firm to design their new Veterinary Hospital, however, the design created was too cost prohibitive. The KBT team met with the owner and his associates several times and presented a value engineered design that met both the functionality and budget needs for the project. The building is just under 8000 SF conditioned. Under roof is just under10,000 SF. The main structure is a pre-engineered metal building. Aesthetic emphasis was put on the front elevation and lobby area while the working areas were designed more for functionality.The building was designed as a state-of-the-art full service Veterinary Hospital with current technology fully utilized.Although KBT was able to minimize cost, we still delivered a high-quality facility with considerable features.Completed May 20
Project: Little WIlma’s Peoples School, Jacksonville, FL.
In April 2003, KBT provided Design/Build Services for a new child development center at Jacksonville University because the existing location was being displaced by the construction of the new Davis College of Business. The biggest challenge on this project, aside from the budget constraints, was the accelerated timeline. KBT had to design the project from concept phase to permit and construct the building all within 120 days to have it ready for the Fall semester. KBT delivered a 4500 SF facility on time and within budget that met with both the Construction Manager and Jacksonville University (the owner) satisfaction.
Project: Strom Amphitheater, Jacksonville, FL.
In 2012 KBT was awarded through a competitive bid the construction of Jacksonville University’s new Strom Amphitheater. The Jacksonville University Amphitheater broke ground on March 3, 2012, destined for a May 14, 2012, completion. This project came with complex requirements and high expectations. This landmark required an eave of almost 29′, support for thousands of pounds of lighting, and hot-dipped galvanized steel columns to protect against the salt air environment. Poor soil conditions resulted in the requirement for large design foundations.
Project: JU President’s House, Jacksonville, FL.
In June 2005, KBT entered into a contract to build a new 8800 SF custom home for the President of Jacksonville University. The colonial style estate was designed with entertaining and fund raising in mind. It included spacious areas that opened onto large country style porches that overlooked the river. Although it was primarily to be used as the residence for the President, the property was intended to also be available for use for various University functions.
Project: The Original Pancake House Restaurant – New Construction, Jacksonville, FL.
In 2007, KBT completed construction of a restaurant for our client, Buckhead Equities, who had received bids for other Builders that exceeded the budget. KBT was able to value-engineer the project and bring it within budget. KBT agreed and entered into contract for the construction of The Original Pancake House to be built in the new St Johns Town Center. This building was designed to sustain up to 120 MPH winds. The building was masonry construction with impact glass, stucco and stone facades, metal roof systems. The facility is approximately 6000 sq ft with 2500 sq ft of kitchen space and 3500 sq ft of dining area to seat 115 patrons plus and exterior patio area. The kitchen features a double line cooking assembly with deep freeze and cold storage.
